As we head towards Holy Week, I am reminded of what this Lenten Season asks of us all. Lent is a time of deep reflection, of renewal and of course Resurrection. This Sunday is the final Sunday of Lent. Not the end of Lent, but the final Sunday. When we come to worship each Sunday, we come to be reminded of our relationship with God. Lent intensifies those reminders. We will be talking this Sunday about the resurrection of Lazarus.

Lazarus was a dear friend of Jesus. He was deathly ill and Mary and Martha sent word to Jesus for help. Jesus was dismayed that his good friend was ill, but did not rush to be by his side. You might say he took his time. You see Jesus was on his way to face his accusers in Jerusalem. He knew what awaited him. He needed to remind all of us of God’s gift of renewal, of resurrection. He would call Lazarus out of the tomb and made sure all of his followers would witness the resurrection of Lazarus.

Holy week starts with Palm Sunday on the 29th. Join us in walking alongside Jesus as we enter Jerusalem. Wave a palm branch and renew your relationship with Christ Jesus. We will gather on Maundy Thursday for a reminder of the Final Supper. Come and reflect on Good Friday as we worship our lord as He faces the Cross for us. Yes, we refer to it as Good Friday for we know what comes next, the glory of Easter on Sunday. Yes, Resurrection! The stone is removed and the glory is revealed.

This is an opportunity to renew our relationship with each other and Jesus. Let us reflect together and embrace a renewed life. May all that we have been blessed with be shared with all people and bring peace to all the world.
I pray that all of you will join us, if not in person, join us in joy and love for the Resurrection of Christ and the renewal of our faith in all that we do.

May we all be blessed in love and joy for one another. In name of Jesus Christ!   AMEN

Pastor John
