Pastor John’s Notes

Hello, St. Paul’s!! May we all be blessed by the presence of Jesus Christ in our lives!!

The past few months are called “ordinary” time in the Methodist Lectionary. I don’t really believe that there is “ordinary” time in a church. Every day is new and exciting. Sometimes challenging but never “ordinary”. I guess it reflects the time between holidays for most of us.

There is a lot going on at St. Paul’s that I want everyone to be aware of.

Make sure you are here for our 90th anniversary service on October 26th. 90 years of service to the community, 90 years of worship together and 90 years of lots of fun will be celebrated. Please invite others, especially former members and friends of St. Paul’s.

Trunk or Treat will be held in the parking lot on October 31 at 3:00 Decorate your car and hand out candy to the kids. Costumes are encouraged, or as in my case, come as you are. If you can’t make it, buy a bag of candy and if the Pastor doesn’t eat it, we will hand it out to the kids.

Laity Sunday is right around the corner and plans are in the works. It may be a chance to sample the Pastors cooking skills. Lucky you!

Christie and I will be on vacation in late November and early December. We will be on a cruise and visiting Portugal. Tory, Steve and Pastor Lisa Williams will be in the pulpit and I would really appreciate your supporting them with your presence.

Which leads us into the holidays. The first week of Advent begins December 1st.

I don’t know about you but I didn’t get the memo that the year had been shortened. Seems like we lose a week or two here and there.

But when we worship God together, life moves quickly. We all have a little extra pep in our step. We anticipate Jesus’ arrival and His presence in our lives. Every year that goes by, I find myself looking forward to playing Santa Claus once again. Sure, that suit is hot, but when young children ask for presents and take their pictures with me, I am reminded of what really matters. The joy of another child born in a manger bringing the world new hope.

God Bless each and everyone of you and may we all live into God’s gift with an attitude of joy that only a child can lead us to.

Pastor John
